BUDHAN THEATRE: changing the identitiy of a community'
Budhan Theatre of Gujarat's so called 'criminal’ Chhara tribe initiated community theatre activity in 1998 to wipe out their historical stigma. No training, no space, no lights, no costumes and no money – just actors and their voice. This became a cultural expression against injustice, discrimination, isolation and inhuman treatment by the State and society, changing the identity of a community.
Dakxin Bajrange – director of Budhan Theatre – talks about the struggle and challenges encountered during this journey at this adda at Ranan.
Open to all.
We apologise for limited seating and absence of parking space in the venue.
